Much of what we do centres on sales and promotion, but public information projects are no less demanding particularly where heart patients are the intended audience.
The Heart Manual, pioneered by NHS Lothian, is the UK’s leading home-based rehabilitation programme for patients recovering from acute myocardial infarction. The programme offers a standardised approach for the NHS and is recognised to have contributed to the recovery of over 10,000 heart attack patients every year. An impressive statistic. We have collaborated with the Edinburgh-based team to produce the 170 page manual, which is written in a simple, matter-of-fact style. We were interested to learn that from an audit undertaken at West Middlesex Hospital, 97% of patients commented that the Manual had helped their recovery, with one remarking, “...a beautifully laid out book - easy to read, easy to understand and easy to follow”. Job done.
