Inspiring research stories

IMPACT is Durham University Business School’s biannual thought leadership magazine. It brings together cutting-edge insight and opinion from the School’s international academic team structured around a topical theme, such as sustainability, leadership and the world economy. Its readers include current and potential students, staff, researchers, business partners and alumni.

The 72-page magazine showcases the impact the School’s research has on industry and communities, regionally, nationally and worldwide. It also shares news about the School’s activities and achievements, including its alumni events and global partnerships. We’ve worked together with the Business School to design, artwork, copy edit and proof each issue since 2021.


Our magazine design process

Each article starts as a Word document supplied by individual academics, which is then copy edited by our in-house copywriter to ensure clarity and that it fits with the University’s house style. We then work up each article using sourced photography, bespoke illustrations, or a combination of both to give it its own unique creative look and feel. We produce multiple concepts for the magazine’s front cover, which is developed in partnership with the School’s marketing team. Through this design process, we deliver a lively and engaging publication that reinforces and enhances the international reputation of the School.

IMPACT is designed for both digital and print editions. For digital, we use ISSUU to convert it into an interactive magazine that easily adapts to different devices. You can read the latest issue of IMPACT magazine here.
